ABOUT
The Rolla Rural Fire Protection District is a 100% volunteer, district based fire
department that serves nearly 15,000 people.  
The department is comprised of nearly
60 firefighters and twelve
apparatus. Rolla Rural Fire is dispatched via the Rolla Central
911 Communications Center
located at the Rolla Police Department.

The Rolla Rural Fire Protection District covers an area of
approximately 200 square miles in the central portion of
Phelps County. The district primarily provides emergency
services for the area of Rural Rolla, including the
communities of Northwye, Macedonia, Dillon, Vida,
Yancy Mills, Pilot Knob, and Nagagomi.
In addition to fire services, Rolla Rural provides Emergency Medical Assistance
to ambulances upon request.  Several members of RRFD are licensed
Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics on the state and national level.  
In 2007, RRFD responded to 127 calls to assist ambulance crews, excluding
Motor Vehicle Accidents.
The department also responds to emergencies
involving water and ice rescue.

RRFPD is equipped to handle extrication on scenes of Motor Vehicle Accidents and other incidents where victims
could become physically trapped.  5 sets of extrication equipment are on board different RRFD apparatus.  
Personnel also attend training throughout the year on extrication tactics, and the constant updates to vehicles,
including hybrid and alternative-fuel vehicles.
